The agony of defeat
There is nothing worse in this world than losing. Especially when the opportunity to win presents itself and you can't take advantage.
Hownt Dawgs lost in the title game for the second straight year on Saturday. Won the first two, then came up just short in the championship, 13-6. We played hard. I was proud. After last week, I thought we would just fold -- especially after they score on the first play in the division championship. But we gutted it out and played a helluva game.
Could be the end of the road for this team, which is a shame because I really think we learned how to play together by the end. Oh well, there's always hoops.

T'giving
What a silly holiday Thanksgiving is. I mean, it's a supposed celebration of the early days of our country -- which was a brutal and barbaric time -- and the main attraction is a freakin' turkey? I got no beef with the animal, but it's a pretty goofy bird and really serves no other purpose than to be a mascot for this inane holiday.
What do other countries think of this? They gotta be laughing that we idolize this stupid looking bird and celebrate the exploitaion of our real forefathers.
And while we're on the subject, why's it gotta be on a Thursday? Just make it on a Friday, give people one day off and everyone's happy. For those of us who have worked that Friday more than not, it is no good. Basically a wasted day. Talk about a waste of productivity.
My boy Morton Marcus has his anti-Halloween kick. Well, I say maybe we should look long and hard at Thanksgiving. Maybe we could just tone it down a bit, no?
Just a thought ...
